Short dump in transaction SOLMAN_WORKCENTER after F4

Symptom
Start transaction SOLMAN_WORKCENTER. Navigate through screens and press F4 help on one of the input fields – an exception CX_WDR_ADAPTER_EXCEPTION is raised. The short dump contains the text
“Error in TOOLBAR.. Property “DESIGN” of Adapter has an invalid value”.

Start transaction is also called when you choose “Back (F3)”

Symptom
In a session, you exit the execution of a report or a transaction by choosing “Back (F3)”. Instead of returning to the SAP Easy Access menu as expected, the system immediately calls the start transaction, provided you have used the menu option
“Extras” -> “Set start transaction”
in the SAP Easy Access Menu to define [...]
