Breakpoint for statement SCAN does not work

Symptom
You cannot (or can no longer) set a breakpoint for the statement SCAN ABAP-SOURCE. The breakpoint does appear in the breakpoint table, but is not visualized by the relevant icon in the source code display of the Debugger. The Debugger does not stop either.
Reason and Prerequisites
This is caused by an error in the SAP kernel.
Solution
Use an SAP kernel (disp+work package) that has at least the patch level that is specified under “SP Patch Level”.
This patch level enables you to set a breakpoint (again) for the statements SCAN (for all variants) and SCAN AND CHECK.
