  1. IBM i: Error when starting a remote instanceSymptom If you want to stop a remote instance from the central instance host, the command STOPSAP has no effect. Other terms AS/400, OS400, system i, i5/OS, iSeries Reason and Prerequisites This...
  2. IBM i: Checking already completed child processesSymptom Terminating an SAP system takes longer than usual. Sometimes only the job SAPSTART is active in the subsystem without being terminated. Other terms AS/400, OS400, system i, i5/OS, iSeries Reason and...
  3. IBM i: Overwriting when determining communication dataSymptom SAPOSCOL ends due to a termination, and MCH3601 is displayed in the function AiUpCall in the job log. Other terms AS/400, OS400, system i, i5/OS, iSeries Reason and Prerequisites When determining...
  4. IBM i: Missing replacement of R3INLPGM in R3400Symptom When you apply a patch, the program R3INLPGM in the library R3400 should be replaced automatically. However, this does not occur. Other terms AS/400, OS400, system i, i5/OS, iSeries Reason and...

Symptom

After the conversion of your SAP NetWeaver system to IT4J using CONFIGJVM, the system no longer starts. The Java processes terminate, and the system issues the following message:
JVMJ9GC032E System configuration does not support option ‘-Xlp’

Other terms

IBM i, CONFIGJVM, Java, OS400, AS400, IT4J, J9, Xlp46k, JVMJ9GC032E

Reason and Prerequisites

The Java virtual machine IT4J does not support the parameter -Xlp64k (which is recommended by SAP) for some of the processor types. Lower versions of CONFIGJVM ignore this.

Solution

Delete the parameter -Xlp46k from the parameter settings of your Java processes. You can either use the Config Tool to manually perform this, or you can call CONFIGJVM again using option 2 (Apply). Note that the second method is more user-friendly. To do this, implement the relevant corrections to import the most current version of the tool.
The corrections are contained in the following patches:
Systems with Kernel Release 6.40:
Systems with Kernel Release 7.00:
Systems with Kernel Release 7.01:
The patch numbers are provided after the patches are delivered.
Further information about downloading and importing patches
is available in Notes 330793 and 49365.
