Symptom

While converting the contents of the document, Invalid characters results after conversion due to inappropriate selection of codepage.
Ex: German umlaut ‘? results as ‘#’ after conversion.

Reason and Prerequisites

If the documents are migrated from a unicode system to a non-unicode system and also if the charset is not maintained in the document mimetype, downward compatibility issues occurs which results in improper conversion of document contents.
