Symptom

When evaluating the syslog by using Transaction SM21, there is an ABAP runtime error with the text ‘ASSIGN_LENGTH_NEGATIVE’.

Reason and Prerequisites

There are several parameter records for a syslog message, and their entire length exceeds the maximal internal message length. This means that there is a negative assignment and a termination.
